Welcome to the CCDES Parent Page!

Hello parents!

My name is Indira - I am the Parent Resource Coordinator at CCDES. I have worked with CCDES for many years - working on a variety of projects and goals. We are very excited at the opportunity to provide parents and people concerned about parents and families a place to get information, resources, articles and activities.

It is not easy being a parent of school age children. I have 3 children - my oldest Anya is a freshman in high school this year and my son Sean is in 6th grade. Both of my children have been transitioning this year into schools that are giving them a huge challenge both academically and socially. My daughter is learning to survive and thrive in a high school environment that no longer insulates her and protect her but pushes her to become a competent and independent thinker. My son Sean is learning that middle school is the beginning of the change from elementary to high school and there is so much demanding his attention - academics, sports... GIRLS! His challenge has been learning to focus on what is important and how to make priorities with his time and energy. My youngest child will be in kindergarten next year and that will be another year of transition for us!

We want this web site to be a place for parents as a way to bring parents information about how to make themselves and their children an important part of their school - to avoid the feeling of being on the outside looking in. What can we do make this happen? What can the teachers do? What can the school do?

CCDES is available to assist you and your school. We do workshops and trainings focused on parents and families and can tailor our trainings to fit the needs of your school and community.
