Catherine Collier, Ph.D.
Dr. Collier has over 30 years experience in Cross-cultural bilingual, and special education. She has been a classroom teacher, a resource room teacher, a diagnostician, and the director of a teacher-training program specializing in certification of bilingual paraprofessionals at all teaching levels.
Dr. Collier has worked with the BUENO Center for Multicultural Education, Research, and Evaluation where she created and directed the Bilingual Special Education Curriculum/Training project (BISECT). She has served as the director of Resource and Program Development for the American Indian Science and Engineering Society at the University of Colorado and is the author of several books and articles on cross-cultural and multilingual special education.
Dr. Collier has worked for government agencies, universities, and school districts. She now works extensively with school districts, departments of education, and community organizations to ensure a high quality of education for ELL, LEP, and CLD students.

Indira L. Newell
Indira Newell has 15 years of experience working with parents and children in both educational and therapeutic settings. She has also been a grant writer and evaluator for many school districts and other non-profit agencies.
Indira resides in Battle Ground, Washington with her husband, Phil and their three children Anya, Sean and Kaj and their cat named Sunny and 2 dogs Max and Gus. Anya is a senior in high school, Sean is in the 9th grade and Kaj is in 2nd grade.

Karla Keyes
Karla has worked at CrossCultural Developmental Education Services since 1999. She is responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the CCDES office as well as taking care of organizing the many requests that CCDES receives for workshops and presentations. Karla has been responsible for also streamlining CCDES' products operations and under her guidance we have seen an increase in product sales.
As well as maintaining the office operations for CCDES, Karla also owns and operates her own business. She married her husband Ros on June 5, 2004 and is enjoying married life with her best friend. Ros owns the local Bowling Center in Bellingham and the whole family is involved in a busy bowling season. She is the mother of 2 boys, Chad and Kyle. Chad and Kyle both attend College. Chad is pursing a degree in Corporate Accounting and Kyle in Computer Networking. The whole family enjoys golfing in the summer and, of course, bowling in the winter.
Les Kisska
Les has assisted CrossCultural Developmental Education Services with exhibits and language materials for ten years. If you visit our exhibits at NABE, CEC, or TESOL you will get a chance to meet Les. He speaks German, French, Slovak, Czech, Russian, English, and Spanish. He can take a good guess at Polish and Italian.
Les immigrated to Canada after escaping from torture and imprisonment in a Communist prison in Eastern Europe. He learned to speak English while attending the University of British Columbia. He has degrees from University of California, Berkeley, and Idaho State University. Les is the husband of Catherine Collier and the two of them are ardently active in social justice concerns.
